Published by John Bumpus, London - 1857
A mill owner in Mysore claims himself as a descendent of the Chikka Veera Rajendra Wodeyar. His claim appears to have some basis, as with lot of efforts over the last few years, he has collected material to establish his claim from several sources. Now, he has taken legal steps to claim his ancestral (/) palace in Madikeri fort.
Yes...I have read about this too. I wonder if I have posted a link of an article regarding this claim...earlier on RBSI.
Who is the `owner' of Madikeri Fort?
By Jeevan Chinnappa
MADIKERI, FEB. 8. C. Nagaraj from Mysore, who calls himself HCN Wadiyar, has claimed to be the legal heir of Madikeri Fort, which accommodates Government offices, including that of the Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu.
Mr. Nagaraj claims to be a descendant of the family of the former Lingayat rulers of Kodagu. He claims to be the great grandson of Mallappa Gowda, who was the commander-in-chief of Kodagu's erstwhile ruler, Veeraraja. The king's daughter, Devammaji, married Mallappa Gowda (Mallappah). Thus, he is the "great great grandson" of Veeraraja. Mr. Nagaraj, who was here a few days ago, told The Hindu that Mallappa married Devammaji in 1809, and he had evidence to prove his claims.

RBSI, what does this scene depict? I'm curious. Is this a work in charcoal / pencil.....??
One more historical fact I never knew living in Karnataka and having some many Coorgi friends.
Jo Nambiar : This is a lithogragh of Chikka Vira Rajendra and Princess Gowramma probably before they left for England. You could read more at : http://muralirvarma.blogspot.com/2010/05/princely-coorg-and-chikka-veera.html
